Three Southend Players Who Can Help Them Win the League Two Play Off Final

Updated: May 21, 2015

Michael Timlin

Phil Brown called Timlin’ performance against Stevenage ‘one of the bravest he’d ever seen’ after the midfielder suffered a horrific head injury in the first leg.

Timlin’s clash with Bira Dembele left him requiring over 15 stitches (reports have suggested the number varies from 15-27!), though he was raring to return just days later for the home encounter. In fact Timlin wanted to come back on straight after the injury happened!

Wearing a skull cap to protect the gash, Timlin romped around the pitch with his usual bravery, leaping for every loose ball, and was on hand to score the clinching third goal on a memorable night by the coast.

There’s no doubt Timlin will cover every blade of grass at Wembley otherwise his courage will result in nothing. Already a Southend hero, he’ll want to confirm his popularity by having a key role in a victory this weekend.
