New Everton FC star wants to emulate Wayne Rooney

New Everton signing Ramiro Funes Mori has revealed that he is looking to follow in the footsteps of former Toffees hero Wayne Rooney.

Everton did not spend much during the summer transfer window but they certainly brought the chequebook out to secure the services of defender Ramiro Funes Mori.

Mori arrived at Everton for a fee of around £9.5million from River Plate and a lot is certainly expected from the defender at Goodison Park this season.

Despite his undoubted talent though, many fear that Mori will initially struggle to life in the Premier League as it is a completely new environment for him.

Nonetheless, Mori is not a novice when it comes to the Premier League as the defender has now stated that he has been following the English top flight since he was a kid.

The Argentine also went on to add that he is a fan of former Everton star Wayne Rooney and is hopeful of following in the footsteps of the England captain.

Mori said, “For me, it’s the best league in the world. Since I was a kid, I’ve been watching the league. It’s a very intense league, dynamic and obviously I’ll have to adapt to that but it shouldn’t take too long.

“There are lots of very big players who have played in this league, very important players like Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, a lot of others.

“To follow their steps is fantastic and I’m looking forward to testing myself against the attackers in the league.”
