Match Preview: Manchester United vs Liverpool

Updated: September 11, 2015

Arch enemies Manchester United and Liverpool prepare to renew old rivalries at Old Trafford this weekend and the match should be an entertaining affair.

Manchester United

Manchester United suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Swansea City last time out and the Red Devils will surely be desperate to bounce back this weekend, especially with rivals Liverpool paying a visit to Old Trafford.

United have been far from convincing so far though and the clash should prove to be another tough test for the Red Devils.

Injury Doubts: Michael Carrick, Phil Jones

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Romero; Shaw, Blind, Smalling, Darmian; Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Depay, Herrera, Mata; Rooney

Much like United, even Liverpool suffered a poor result in their previous game with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham United.

The defeat exposed Liverpool’s glaring weaknesses and if the Reds do not improve during the upcoming game against Manchester United this weekend, a similar fate could befall them once again.

Injury Doubts: Joe Allen, Jon Flanagan, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Daniel Sturridge

Probable Lineup (4-3-3): Mignolet; Gomez, Skrtel, Lovren, Clyne; Lucas, Milner, Henderson; Ibe, Benteke, Roberto Firmino

While neither side has been particularly impressive so far this season, United perhaps head into the game as favourites due to the fact that they are playing at home. The Red Devils should be able to just about edge a victory but the clash will be a very close affair.
