Jurgen Klopp Provides Update On Daniel Sturridge Injury
Daniel Sturridge is by far one of the most lethal strikers in the Premier League, his pace and dribbling is quite unmatchable and can give any defender, a run for their money but the England International striker has been injury prone since a long while now and yet again it seems that the 26-year-old is set for another spell on the sidelines after a hip problem kept him out of Liverpool’s pre-season matches this past week. This has come as a great dilemma to boss, Jurgen Klopp, who is quite worried about him and he seems unsure if the forward will be available for the opening match against Arsenal next week.
According to Klopp, he has “no idea” whether Daniel Sturridge will be fit for Liverpool’s opening Premier League match at Arsenal.
The 26-year-old Striker, who joined Liverpool from Chelsea in January of 2013, has had his ups and downs at Anfield. Even though, despite his injuries he still remains a fan favorite. Sturridge made just 14 Premier League appearances for Liverpool last season in which he netted the ball 8 times and only 12 in the 2014/15 campaign.
Sturridge’s injury comes as a big blow for the reds as it only adds to the list of injured players, who will be sidelined on the opening weekend of the Premier League. Players like James Milner, Lucas Leiva and Mamadou Sakho, who have been vital for Liverpool will also join Sturridge on the injured list.
In my opinion, even though Daniel Sturridge is a vital part of the Reds attack, Liverpool may still be very strong up-front with likes of Firmino, Coutinho, Ings and new signing Sadio Mane, leading the attack. Mane, who immensely impressed in the game against Barcelona, will surely be the man to watch in Liverpool’s attacking line-up against Arsenal and in other games in the new season. New signings Wijnaldum and Grujic, also had a great game against Barcelona and will be vital for Liverpool’s title chances next season. All in all, Daniel Sturridge is surely a strong character upfront for Liverpool but Klopp has made some intelligent signings to replace him.
