Confirmed By Skysports – Arsenal In Talks To Sign 23-Goal Striker

Updated: August 8, 2016

The ongoing dilemma continues at Arsenal, as they are still in the search to find a world class striker. Even though French striker Olivier Giroud scored 25 goals for the Gunners last season in all competitions, the fans still mount pressure on Arsene Wenger to bring in another striker. And rightly so especially considering Giroud only scored 16 goals in the league last season. Arsenal have been heavily relying on Olivier Giroud for the goals, as Danny Welbeck, who came onto the scene for the Gunners after moving from Manchester United, has often been injured and again will be out of the squad till March which means he can’t be relied upon next season.

Arsenal, like every other season, have been linked to numerous players such as Gonzalo Higuain, who has recently sealed a move to Juventus from Napoli and left the Arsenal fans disappointed, Riyad Mahrez, who seems to be staying at Leicester City for another season and the German talent, Julian Draxler. None of these rumours seemed to be fruitful. Now, Arsenal have again come on to the scene with a link with French striker Alexandre Lacazette. The Gunners saw a £29 million bid rejected by Lyon, last month, as the French club claimed that Lacazette was “irreplaceable”, showing that it would take much more from Arsene Wenger to bring the French striker to North London.

Alexandre Lacazette, who joined the French side Lyon in the summer of 2009 has appeared in 143 games for the club, bagging 72 goals in total. Known for his strong finishing, Lacazette proved himself at the club and was also selected in the French Ligue team of the year. It comes to no surprise, that Europe’s biggest clubs are after him. He was also linked with PSG.

In my opinion, Lacazette could be the solution to Arsene Wenger’s striker problems. His speed and agility make him the perfect fit at Arsenal and the type of free flowing football they play. His finishing is his strong point and that is what Arsenal exactly need upfront.

He would fit perfectly at the striker position with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey assisting him. Arsenal, have been previously linked with Lacazette last season as well. Arsene Wenger made a grave mistake by not buying Lacazette last summer, when the striker was available for a very good price and could have been the final piece of the puzzle for them.

According to Skysports, Arsenal are in talks with Lyon for Lacazette and hope they will be be to convince Lyon to let him go for a good price.

However, should Arsenal fail in their attempt to sign Lacazette, Wenger and Arsenal will have themselves to blame.

Lacazette has often been linked with Arsenal, Wenger’s indecisiveness meant he was not signed last summer, and the summer before and this has happened with many players, including Higuain and Aubameyang – all of who would have been a massive improvement on Olivier Giroud.
