Avellino President, Walter Taccone, has revealed that Premier League giants Liverpool were interested in signing midfielder Samuel Bastien.

Following the end of the transfer deadline day, it had emerged that Liverpool made a late attempt to sign Ukrainian star Andriy Yarmolenko.

Now in new revelations, Yarmolenko was not the only player whom Liverpool approached as the Reds were also eyeing a move for former Anderlecht midfielder Samuel Bastien.

Liverpool were ultimately unsuccessful in their bid to sign Bastien as he decided on a move to Serie B side Avellino just before deadline day and following the completion of the transfer, club President Walter Taccone has moved on to reveal that along with the Reds, the likes of Barcelona and Sevilla were also interested in signing the 18-year old.

Speaking to Sportchannel214, Taccone said, “Bastien has signed for Avellino…despite the lure of clubs such as Barcelona, Seville and Liverpool.  There was contact with these clubs, but he decided to come to Avellino”.
